J Pittard Ltd was appointed to design a large single dwelling on a site in the centre of a rural village. The site is located within a Conservation Area and in a prominent position adjacent to a Listed Building, and within close proximity of a Grade II* Listed Parish Church.
The site had been subject to previous feasibility assessments, planning applications and planning appeals, although permission had not been achieved. Working in conjunction with Elderberry Construction, J Pittard Ltd engaged in pre-application advice with the Local Authority before submitting an application for planning permission. The application was initially refused planning permission, but was granted under an Appeal to the Planning Inspectorate. The Planning Inspector concluded that the scheme preserved the setting of the adjacent listed buildings, and did not cause harm to the special qualities of the Dorset AONB.
Construction drawings and details were also prepared for approval under the Building Regulations, and the Practice was shortlisted as a Regional Finalist for the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2018.
